Studies in Heartbreak

It's often said that artists create their best work when they're heartbroken. It was true for Dalí, Springsteen, Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast, and I'm hoping that something productive will come of this super shitty feeling for me as well.

I'm not embarrassed to say that I've been nursing a little heartbreak recently. Admittedly my thoughts have been a bit scattered and I haven't been able to sleep, so tonight I listened to a lot of Spanish break up music and turned their lyrics into little collages/type explorations using photos from the creative commons.

However, I am embarrassed to say that the exploration I attempted for Vivir Sin Aire by Maná ended up looking a lot like a super emo t-shirt design, maintaining the truth universally acknowledged that break ups will always be just a little bit ugly. Needless to say, I'm keeping that one off the internet.

If you're feeling a twinge of lost love, give these songs a listen. Their lyrics really are the perfect blend of tragic and beautiful.
